Ya-Ping Chiu received the B.S. degree in Department of Physics from National Taiwan Normal University. She joined the Nanoscience Lab and completed her PhD research experience in Institute of Physics in Academia Sinica and received her the Ph.D. degree in 2005. She continued working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences and Institute of Physics in Academia Sinica before she got the assistant professor position in 2006 in National Sun Yat-sen University. She joined and got the full professor position in NTU Dep. Of Physics from 2016. Her academic achievements and contributions are mainly emphasized on developing the functional capability of cross-sectional STM and spectroscopy (XSTM/S) to solve several cutting-edge questions at the interface in emerging materials. She presents her representative XSTM works with the first demonstration not only across MOFET heterointerfaces, but also the first experimental result with the atomically-resolved electronic properties in complex oxide heterostructures and high-temperature superconductor, YBa2Cu3O7-x. [Physical Review Letters 109, 246807 (2012); ACS Nano, 12, 1089 (2018); Nature Communications, 12, 3893 (2021)]. She also improved the functionality of XSTM with light illumination and got the first demonstration of the light-modulated XSTM on the photo-induced property of metalorganic perovskites [ACS Nano, 13, 4402 (2019)].
