Introduction / 簡介
陳景虹教授與其團隊的致力研究神經傳遞物(neurotransmitters)在基因表現、訊息傳遞行為及疾病中的角色。他們研究單胺氧化酶(MAO) 基因剔除小鼠（身上，血清素(serotonin)及多巴胺(dopamine)在神經發展、轉錄因子規則的角色。利用這些小鼠進行的研究，讓陳教授與她的團隊發展出新的方向：自閉行為、攝護腺癌及腦癌的治療及早期診斷。
陳教授實驗室近期之研究工作顯示出排除單胺氧化酶編碼基因可在實驗小鼠上預防攝護腺癌。由於單胺氧化酶對於調節腦部中情緒及動機非常重要，現在已經有一系列的藥物有效地抑制單胺氧化酶(單胺氧化酶抑制劑 MAO inhibitors/MAOI)，已多年在臨床用為抗憂鬱症的藥物，已經知道它們對人体安全無毒性，因而可以較快轉用為治癌症的新藥。
陳教授多年來領導著經神科學及藥物開發的研究及發展，她在單胺氧化酶的研究從基因、行為，至情緒行為和癌症的治療。她與她的研究伙伴更是首次個團隊分辨出兩種的單胺氧化酶及其序列，解決了此領域中超過二十年以上的迷團，也因此她被稱作「單胺氧化酶之母」。
