Prof. Yuei-An Liou
Professor Yuei-An Liou is a distinguished professor at National Central University (NCU), Taiwan, specializing in remote sensing, hydrometeorology, GPS meteorology, and environmental monitoring. He is currently a Professor and Chair Professor at Center for Space and Remote Sensing Research, National Central University. His research has made important contributions to satellite remote sensing, atmospheric science, hydrological processes, drought monitoring, and environmental vulnerability assessment.
Professor Liou is also a leading figure in global drought research. He is the founding chair of the Taiwan and Global Drought Investigation and Research Center (TGI/DroughtHub) at NCU, which integrates remote sensing, climate science, hydrology, and geospatial technologies to investigate drought processes and impacts worldwide. His recent work includes developing innovative satellite-based drought indicators and comprehensive drought-risk assessment methods. Through his research and leadership, Professor Liou has helped strengthen Taiwan’s capabilities in Earth observation, climate change research, disaster prevention, and sustainable water resource management.
